PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of ultrasonic welding between a positive electrode collector for storage battery and a tab, capable of providing a lithium ion battery having improve mechanical strength and excellent impact resistance. SOLUTION: In this ultrasonic welding method, the tab 4 formed of an aluminum foil is superposed on the solid color portion 3a of the collector 3 of the positive electrode E placed on the anvil 1 of a supersonic welding device and formed of the aluminum foil having thickness of 25μm or less and breaking strength of 300 N×mm<SP>-2</SP>, and the tab 4 is welded to the solid color portion 3a of the collector 3 of the positive electrode E by vibrating a horn 2 while compressing these stacked ones. The width d of the horn 2 in its vibrating direction is made smaller than the width D of the tab 4, and the width differences b each produced on both sides of the horn between the width d of the horn 2 and the width D of the tab 4 are made 10 times the amplitude A of the horn or larger to perform the welding.
