PURPOSE:To make an accurate read even if read information slants from a scanning direction by arranging reflecting surfaces consisting of two planes so that the line of their intersection slants at a constant angle to the rotary axis of a deflecting element in a main scanning direction. CONSTITUTION:Assuming that a point P is a position scanned by deflection through a rotary deflecting element, the reflecting surfaces 12 consisting of two planes mutually intersecting orthogonally with planes are disposed on the optical axis of light scanned on a line by the rotary deflecting element so that the line L of the intersection of the two planes slants at the constant angle to the rotary axis (X-axial direction) in the main scanning direction M. Conse quently, a scan can be made not only in parallel to the main scanning direction on a read surface 11, but also in a direction crossing to it. Therefore, even when the read information is disposed slantingly in the main scanning direction, an accurate read is made and the device of simple constitution becomes com pact. |
