PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new pest repellent for articles having no side effect on the skin and having sure repelling effect on insect pests impairing human health and/or giving unpleasant feeling including sense of uncleanliness and aversive feeling such as cockroach and mite and other arthropod. SOLUTION: This pest repellent for articles contains, as the active ingredients, a total 0.01-20 wt.%, on a dry plant basis, of two kinds of water extract ingredients respectively derived from mugwort and Houttuynia cordata in the weight ratio of (20:80) to (80:20) based on dry plants, and optionally contains 0.005-10 wt.% of at least one kind of water extract ingredient derived from plant(s) selected from Panax ginseng, Japanese pepper leaves and loquat leaves.
