PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an access control device which allows the operator to easily make a visual identification of a number input section upon operation of the number input section, and eliminates an accidental coincidence that an input number train is equal to a code number train. SOLUTION: Operating buttons of the number input section of the access control device are provided with back lights, respectively, and a control section does not carry out collating operation in spite of first operation (S5) of the number input section but turns on the back lights (S6). After second number input operation is carried out, the control section starts the collating operation, and determines that code number input has been achieved when the input number train successively coincides with the stored code number train. If input operation of the code number train is not achieved in spite of a predetermined number of times of number input operation via the number input section, collation of a numerical value input via the number input section is halted over a predetermined time (S20).
