PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emission device capable of performing high output and enhancing reliability.SOLUTION: A light emission device 1a has a mount board 2a, an ultraviolet ray emission element 3, a cover 5a, a joint portion 4a and a sealing material portion 6a. The cover 5a is formed of glass through which an ultraviolet ray radiated from the ultraviolet ray emission element 3 is transmitted. The cover 5a has a lens portion 51a and a flange portion 52a. The lens portion 51a has an incidence face 511 and an emission face 512 for the ultraviolet ray emitted from the ultraviolet ray emission element 3, and the emission face 512 is formed like a convex curved surface. The flange portion 52a is formed like a flat plate. The cover 5a is joined to the mount board 2a over the whole periphery of the flange portion 52a by the joint portion 4a. The joint portion 4a is formed of glass having a low melting point. The sealing material forming the sealing material portion 6a is a material which has resistance to an ultraviolet ray and transmits therethrough the ultraviolet ray radiated from the ultraviolet ray emission element 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
