PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing copper capable of efficiently obtaining high purity copper at high efficiency by a wet process without increasing a load to the environment and without generating waste liquid.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing copper comprising: a first step where a copper-containing matter is added into a solution including an oxidizer to dissolve copper; and a second step where the solution (A) including an oxidizer in a reduced state and a solution (B)obtained by dissolving the copper are contacted via a diaphragm, the solution (A) is provided with an anode side electrode, the solution (B) is provided with a cathode side electrode, voltage is applied to a space between the electrodes, and, while regenerating the oxidizer included in the solution (A), copper is precipitated on the surface of the cathode side electrode, and the standard potential of the oxidizer is 1.6 V or lower.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
