An information signal reproducing apparatus for reproducing an information signal from a recording medium on which is recorded the information signal including a first information signal, which is formed by modulating a part of a period of a single frequency signal with information and not modulating the other part of the period of the single frequency signal and a second information signal, which is different from the first information signal, comprises a reproducing unit for reproducing the first information signal and the second information signal from the recording medium and outputting the reproduced signals, correcting apparatus for performing correction of time-base variations on the second information signal reproduced by the reproducing unit, and a correction controller for controlling a correction operation performed by correction device, by using the other part of the period which is not modulated with the information among the signal frequency signal of the first information signal output from reproducing apparatus.
