<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition and method for diagnosing and treating the growth and proliferation of tumor cells in mammalian animals including humans. <P>SOLUTION: This method for identifying genes amplified in a genome of the tumor cells is provided. Such the gene amplification is expected to be related with the excessive expression of a gene product as compared with that of the normal cells having the same tissue type and contribute the tumor formation. Therefore, a protein encoded by the amplified gene is considered to be useful for the diagnosis and/or treatment (including prevention) of a certain kind of cancer, and acts as forecasting the prognosis of the treatment of the tumor. The new polypeptide, nucleic acid molecule encoding the polypeptide, also vectors and host cells containing the nucleic acid sequence, chimera polypeptide molecules containing the polypeptide fused with a heterologous polypeptide sequence, an antibody bonding with the polypeptide and a method for producing the polypeptide are also provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
