<p>A device for filtering and purifying tap water in combination with a water cooler (2) comprises a generally circular annular flange (12) having an outer diameter sufficient to prevent insertion of the flange (12) into the water-receiving chamber of a water cooler (2), while having an inner diameter dimensioned to accept a water bottle (3) for use in a water cooler (2), and having a rigidity capable of supporting the water bottle (2). Depending from the flange (12) is a generally cylindrical canister (10) of water-impervious material. Positioned within the canister (10), at its lower end, is a lower retaining means (26) capable of passing water while retaining a filter medium. A silver-impregnated activated carbon filter medium (35) is positioned on the upper surface of the lower retaining means (26). An upper retaining means (20) capable of passing water and retaining the filter medium (35) is positioned on the upper surface of the filter medium (35).</p> |
