CLAMP FORCE CONTROL

A method for controlling clamping force on an injection molding machine (10) by determining a toggle position at which the mold elements (26, 28) are in initial contact. That toggle position is deter mined as a function of a selected clamping force and a selected mold protect force and is effective to produce the desired clamping f orce when the toggle mechanism (16) is fully extended.
