PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screen which ensures high contrast and high gain, and to provide a method for producing the screen having excellent suitability to mass production. SOLUTION: On both sides of a transparent support 11, first optical films 12H having a higher refractive index and second optical films 12L having a lower refractive index than the film 12H are alternately formed by coating in such a way that the first optical film 12H constitutes the outermost layer, wherein the number of stacking of the optical films is 2n+1 (n is an integer of≥1). The multilayer optical film thus formed has high reflection properties with respect to light of a specific wavelength region and high transmission properties to at least the visible wavelength region other than the above specified wavelength region, and is used for the screen.
