<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive image forming apparatus capable of determining proper installation of an image forming cartridge. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus 1 is provided with a communication device 40 performing non-contact data transmission/receipt with non-contact IC tags 21K, 21C, 21M, and 21Y individually mounted to a plurality of image forming cartridges 19K, 19C, 19M, and 19Y.
