PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rest device of a grinding machine, wherein the rest device hardly causes the undulated waviness on the surface of a journal, and further can remove the generated waviness. SOLUTION: The rest device of the grinding machine is used when a crankshaft 1 is turned about its axis 5, and the journal 2 is ground by means of a grinding wheel 15 at a grinding point P. The rest device has two rest shoes 23, 25 for supporting the journal 2 by passing the journal 2 to the grinding wheel 15. The two rest shoes 23, 25 are arranged at a first setting angleθ1 measured from the reference line segment L1 connecting the grinding point P and the axis 5, and at a second setting angleθ2 larger than the first setting angleθ1.
