PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus capable of using sheets of thermal paper with different paper widths while the amount of information to be printed is made equal. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus is equipped with a thermal head 1 in which a plurality of thermal elements 145 are arranged in a line, a head holding mechanism 77 rotatably holding the thermal head 1, and a platen 71 with which the thermal head 1 held by the head holding mechanism 77 is brought into contact under a pressing condition. The head holding mechanism 77 holds one thermal head 1 among a plurality of the thermal heads 1 in which the thermal elements 145 are formed in different arranging pitches.
