An organic electroluminescent element, wherein a light-emitting layer contains a plate-like light-emitting material that has a value of (molecular length/molecular thickness) of 3 or more and a host material that has a value of (molecular length/molecular thickness) of 2 or less, and wherein the value of (molecular radius of the light-emitting material/molecular radius of the host material) is 0.8-1.2. This organic electroluminescent element achieves high degree of orientation, high external quantum efficiency and high durability. |
