PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure a distance accurately even if relative optical deviation is present between a conversion-element line and an optical system by providing an auxiliary photoelectric conversion-element line in parallel with one photoelectric conversion-element line of a pair of photoelectric conversion-element lines. CONSTITUTION:When the optical axis of the optical system such as lenses 1 and 2 is deviated and optical images 8 and 9 are shifted up and down with respect to photoelectric conversion-element lines 3 and 4, a distance measuring error occurs. Therefore, an auxiliary photoelectric conversion-element line 6 is provided. Thus, the occurrence of the distance measuring error is suppressed. When optical edges 8a and 9a are inclined by an angle theta and the optical edge part 9a is shifted downward by a distance DELTAh (position 9a') in one photoelectric conversion-element line, the distance in each distance measuring apparatus is obtained by the expression DELTAh=d4-d2. Thus, the distance measuring error due to the vertical shifts of the optical images 8 and 9 caused by the deviation of the optical axis of the optical system such as the lenses 1 and 2 can be corrected. |
