The building component consists of at least one glass element (1) forming part of the trussed girder system, forming a space enclosure. This element is in the middle of the system and acts as a compression rod. It is put under pressure by traction elements (2,3) on either side of it. The high compression load capacity of the glass element enables it to be used as the compression rod of the trussed girder system to stabilise it against overload. One of the traction elements may pass through several glass elements arranged in a row.
