In a conveying apparatus for conveying loads along a linear track, a top carrying rail arranged along the track is provided. A rack rail runs near to and parallel to the carrying rail. A carrying body having a platform is attached in a sliding manner to the carrying rail and is supported against lateral loading. A motor-driven gear rotatably attached to the carrying body is in sliding engagement with the rack. In order to maintain a completely stable position even during asymmetric loading of the platform, a rack is also arranged parallel to the supporting rail, in which rack a second bottom gear engages which is rotatably arranged on the carrying body and is rotatably coupled to the first gear.
