PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of being put in focus by AF through lens driving in a variety of aspects that a user desires, and a method of driving the same.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises: an imaging element which acquires an image of a subject from an optical image of the subject; lens driving means of controlling a lens for adjusting a focus position where the optical image is formed; focus detecting means of detecting a defocusing quantity of the optical image; lens speed recording means of recording a driving speed of the lens associatively with the defocusing quantity as instructed by a user; lens driving information generating means of generating lens drive information prescribing relation between the defocusing quantity and the driving speed of the lens based upon information on the driving speed recorded by the lens speed recording means; and control means of controlling the lens driving means so as to move the lens to a position where the lens is put in focus on the subject at a predetermined speed prescribed with the lens driving information as a driving speed corresponding to the defocusing quantity detected by the focus detecting means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
