Provided is clear coated paper which is produced with satisfactory operation efficiency even through coating with a high-concentration surface-treating liquid and which is excellent in terms of paper quality concerning strength, stiffness, etc. The clear coated paper is obtained by coating both surfaces of a paper base with a surface-treating liquid containing at least starch. When the clear coated paper is divided into three layers in a front layer/interlayer/back layer ratio of 15/70/15 by weight, the weight contents of starch in the front layer/interlayer/back layer are 15-30 wt%/70-40 wt%/15-30 wt%. The surface-treating liquid preferably contains a surfactant.
