PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stitch forming method in which the left-and-right oscillation width of a needle bar is increased by decreasing a timing difference between a needle and a hook, occurring when the needle is oscillated to the left and right with respect to a cloth feed direction; and to provide a sewing machine using the stitch forming method.SOLUTION: A sewing machine vertically moves a needle 1b with respect to cloth based on the driving force of a rotationally moving upper shaft to form stitches. First output generating means reciprocates a first output point P1 along an output axis OA for converting the rotational movement of the upper shaft into a rectilinear movement. An auxiliary rod 13 as a connection part connects the first output point P1 and a needle bar 1. Needle bar oscillating means oscillates the needle bar 1. According to the movement of the needle bar oscillating means, output axis moving means moves a guide body 12 as the output axis OA in a cloth feed direction. The auxiliary rod 13 changes the inclination thereof as the output axis OA is moved, and reciprocates the needle bar 1 substantially parallel to the output axis OA while keeping the inclination.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
