PURPOSE: A system of transmitting ethernet data on a network using both optical and coaxial cables is provided to use the bandwidth efficiently by producing ATM for ethernet data. CONSTITUTION: In a system of transmitting ethernet data, a downward cell memory(33) downward VPI and VCI responding to a controller(32). A controller(32) produces upward and downward VPIs and VCIs each, saves upward VPI and VCI in the upward cell memory(33), saves downward VPI and VCI in the downward VPI and VCI and sends all the VPIs and VCIs to a de-modulator(34). The controller(32) compares between the VPI and VCI of the detected ethernet data and the VPI and VCI saved in the upward cell memory(33) and saves the extracted ATM ethernet data in a data memory(22) and produces ATM by attaching downward VPI and VCI in the downward cell memory(31) to response ethernet data of a router received through an interface(21).
