PURPOSE: A method and a device for controlling a stand-by operation of an optical disk player are provided to supply a power to devices capable of receiving data under a power-off state, and to maintain a standby state. CONSTITUTION: A modem(73) connected to a server directly performs a data transceiving. A memory(71) stores the data. A data processor(69) performs a data modulation/demodulation, an error correction and a data amplification, and inputs/outputs DVD(Digital Video Disk) data at a high speed. A controller controls the modem(73), the memory(71) and the data processor(69). A sub controller(67) performs a controlling operation to display stored advertisement. A play authorizer(63) receives a power from a battery power unit(65) under a power-off state, and maintains a stand-by state capable of receiving the data. Also, If a mounted disk(31) is a DVD for a remote control, the play authorizer(63) digitalizes specific classifying information, and performs an error correction. The play authorizer(63) transmits the specific classifying information to an outer business server, and receives a play authorization control signal.
