PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clamp the input of a reception circuit when a cable is disconnected, to prevent a chattering noise caused in a connector at connection of a balanced transmission line and malfunction only when one line is broken and to ensure a sufficient eye pattern even at transmission of a usual waveform. SOLUTION: Current detection circuits 5-1, 5-2 are provided in each line of a balanced transmission line 4 so as to discriminate a cable connection state, a removal and a normal operation, and a fail-safe circuit consisting of high and low level clamp resistors 9, 10 is connected to each line to confirm an input signal level when the cable is connected or disconnected. It is disconnected in the normal operation by level clamp (ON/OFF) changeover circuit 7, 8.
