The pressure vessel comprises annular casing segments (144, 146). Annular rubber seals (190, 200) are mounted on the inside of each segment. One seal (190) has a slit (192) which separates a flexible section, which fits against the second seal, from the remainder of the ring. The pressurized gas in the vessel dilates the slit and forms a pressure seal between the two rings. Reinforcing pockets (220) are embedded in the rubber of the two rings. An Independent claim is included for a rocket motor constructed as described above.
