<p>PURPOSE: To lower a packet loss probability and to reduce the packet interruption by providing both a switching link and a shoot link in a distribution network of a packet-switching arrangement. CONSTITUTION: This packet switching arrangement 10 is provided with L(=16) pieces of input ports, N(=16) pieces of output ports, and output packet modules 25 to 28. In addition, a packet distribution network 23 supports L pieces of input ports and M(=32) pieces of intermediate ports and is provided with S(=6) pieces of node stages 0 to 6. A complete connection between input and output ports is obtained by setting a number S, so that (S+1) becomes larger than log2 N. A node 30 of the network 23 is effectively divided into a switching means 40 and a shoot multiplexing part 50. Functionalities required for selecting a route of each packet and for transmitting the packet by the means 40 of them are obtained, and the other part 50 consists of four pieces of shoot-connecting means to simply transmit the packet to a FIFO waiting line in the modules 25 to 28.</p> |
