A device for covering an area to be protected is disclosed. The covering element (3) covering said area is mounted over a bracing member (9) of which the ends are frontally inserted into facing sockets (10) in the base (2) of two parallel arcuate members (1). Said covering element (3) thus masks the frontal opening (11) of the socket (10) into which said bracing member (9) is inserted. Said device is useful for covering swimming pools.
