Method for processing paint sludge

Paint sludge containing polymeric paint resin is processed by: (i) mixing (20) cured powder made from previously processed paint sludge with it; (ii) heating the mixture in an inert atmosphere to evaporate water and volatile organic compounds that it contains and to cure the paint resin; and (iii) agitating the mixture during heating to facilitate heat transfer to the paint sludge without increasing the cohesive and adhesive properties of the mixture.
