<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need for repositioning operation and to prevent performance from being deteriorated by preparing two sheets of data buffers for a forward direction and a backward direction, storing the data on a tape at every block and reading out a relevant data block from the buffer according to a command. SOLUTION: When data are read in from a tape device 11, an MPU 10 checks a winding direction, selects a forward direction buffer 5a by a buffer switch part 14 when the forward direction and reads in the recording data on the forward direction surface of the tape at every data block to store the data in the buffer 5a. When the read-in is ended, the data in the backward direction are read in to store the data in the backward directon data buffer 5b. When the read-in in the forward direction is ended, the tape is in a stopped state and the read-back command of a specified data block occurs, the MPU 10 reads out the data of the relevant data block stored in the buffer 5a with-out driving the tape to send out them. Similarly, the data in the back-ward direction are processed.</p> |
