PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive which performs proper waveform equalizing corresponding to the rotating speed of a disk. SOLUTION: The disk drive is equipped with an optical detecting means 1 which irradiates the optical disk having a header area including address data with a light beam, photodetects light reflected by the optical disk, and outputs an electric signal corresponding to the photodetection quantity, a header detecting means 9 which detects the header area with the electric signal, a header cycle detecting means 10 which detects detection cycles of the header area, a waveform equalizing means 5 which performs waveform equalization by varying waveform equalization characteristics according to the detected detection cycles of the header, and a data processing means 11 which reproduces data according to the electric signal having its waveform equalized by the waveform equalizing means.
