PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telephone and a communication system in which a person for setting a recording message response function can leave a message selected by an originator in the telephone of the recording message setting person without notifying the content of message previously to the originator. SOLUTION: An origination side telephone 102, connected with a server 107 for transmitting a prestored message 106 to a telephone 102, receiving a message 105 selected by the telephone 102 from the message 106, and transmitting the selected message 105 to other telephone 101, comprises a means for receiving the message 106 from the server 107; a means for selecting an arbitrary message 105 from the received message 106; and a means for transmitting the arbitrary message 105 thus selected to the server.
