PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser irradiation device which exhibits full emission intensity, while being small-sized. SOLUTION: The laser irradiation device includes a solid-state laser rod, an exciting light source, formed so as to surround the outgoing axis at a cross-sectional surface, perpendicular to the outgoing axis of laser light emitted from the solid-state laser rod, and a mirror cylinder arranged to encompass the excitation light source and focus the light from the excitation light source onto the solid-state laser rod. The excitation light, reflected at the inner surface of the mirror cylinder, is irradiated uniformly at the lateral face of the rod, to efficiently excite laser active materials and energy conversion efficiency is enhanced.
