PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arrest and remove fine condensate drops in a spot situated at the upper reaches from a fan, to decrease draft resistance, and to lengthen a defrosting period by a method wherein the surface of a heat exchanger situated at the upper reaches of air is made water repellency, the surface of a downstream heat exchanger is made non-water repellency, and the fin pitches of the two heat exchangers are changed. SOLUTION: An outdoor unit 7 comprises a water repellent heat exchanger 8, a hydrophilic heat exchanger 9, and an axial flow fan 10. The two heat exchangers 8 and 9 each comprise a heat transfer pipe and a fin. In this case, the fin pitch of the hydrophilic heat exchanger 9 is increased to a value higher than that of the non- water repellent heat exchanger 8. For example, it is preferable that the fin pitch of the water repellent heat exchanger 8 is set to 1-2 mm and that of the hydrophilic heat exchanger 9 is set to 3 mm or more. Since water repellent treatment having a contact angle of 170 deg. or more is applied on the surface of the heat exchanger 8, fine condensate drops are brought into contact with the downstream heat exchanger 9 and arrested thereby. Further, since the heat-exchange 9 has a high fin pitch, even when water drop from the heat-exchanger 8 is adhered, closure of an air flow passage due to frosting hardly occurrs. |
