A method and apparatus for transmitting a NS RLAB block is provided, comprising generating the NS-RLAB block comprising a 11-bit MACID field, a ChID field of length NRL CHID bits that is set to a value to identify a set of hop-ports, a 5-bit PF field that is set to a value to identify packet formats, a 2-bit duration field that indicates number of standard or extended frames used for transmission of the assignment, and a 1 bit Extended Transmission field that indicates whether hop-port assignment is on standard or extended Physical layer (PHY) frames and transmitting the NS-RLAB block. A method and apparatus for receiving and processing the NS RLAB block is further provided. |
