A method and apparatus for preventing recording of image data by using event detection are provided to block the recording of image data even when recording outputting image data or prevent the recording without increasing the processing load of a CPU of a client. A process monitoring driver installing unit(300) installs a process monitoring driver, which is able to monitor process resources performed at an application, through a kernel when a recording blocking program is installed at a client. An event detector(310) receives process resource information from a process monitoring driver when sensing a specific event, and a process information collector(320) collects the process resources information. A process resource analyzer(330) analyzes the process resources information that the event sensing unit or the process information collector collects, and a recorder blocking unit(340) blocks the recording of image data reproduced at a digital processing device when the routine information related to a recording function is included at the process resource.
