An indole derivative represented by the general formula as shown where: · R is ethyl group or a 2, 2, 2-trifluoroethyl group; · Y is hydroxyl or a pivaloyloxy group with the proviso that Y represents a 2, 2, 2-trifluoroethyl group; and · The carbon atom marked (R) represents a carbon atom in (R) configuration. The abovementioned compound may be used to treat conditions such as glaucoma and ocular hypertension.
