PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a joining method where, even in the case tab materials arranged at the side directions of the butted part between the metallic members to be joined are provided with the start position or end position of friction stirring, a joining defect is hard to be occurred in a plasticized region formed at the metallic member. SOLUTION: The joining method comprises: a normal joining stage where the butted part J1 between metallic member 1, 1 is subjected to friction stirring; and a repairing stage where a plasticized region W1 formed at the metallic member 1 by the normal joining stage is subjected to friction stirring. In the normal joining stage, tab materials 2, 3 arranged at the side directions of the butted part J1 between the metallic members 1, 1 are provided with the start position or end position of the friction stirring, and, in the repairing stage, at least the plasticized region W1 adjacent to the tab materials 2, 3 is subjected to the friction stirring.
