PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tag reader that can accurately measure a distance from a tag reader to an RFID tag.SOLUTION: A tag reader comprises: a control unit that outputs a radio wave to thereby detect a tag, and calculates a distance to an article having the tag detecting output intensity of the radio wave serving as a limit of tag detection as limit radio wave intensity attached; and a display unit that displays the calculated distance. When the tag is detected, the control unit is configured to calculate a distance corresponding to the limit radio wave intensity with reference to tag category information associating the limit radio wave intensity corresponding to a category of the tag with a detection distance at the limit radio wave intensity according to the category of the detected tag, or calculate a distance corresponding to the limit radio wave intensity with reference to generally purposed intensity/distance corresponding information associating the limit radio wave intensity with the distance, and display the calculated distance on the display unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
