The invention relates to a method for installing a telecommunication terminal and to a corresponding telecommunication terminal. A plurality of operation parameters of a telecomunication terminal keyboard (2-9) can be adjusted to enable a user to use said telecommunication terminal keyboard to install the terminal. Parameter adjustment is assisted by an automatic input assistant which prompts the operator through several input or selection masks, for adjusting the corresponding operation parameters, and guides said operator to apply the adjustment procedure.
