PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid scanning type optical writing device which can prevent a difference in density at the time of a drawing with gray of the same gradation from occurring, or can prevent a line-like unevenness from occurring. SOLUTION: For this solid scanning type optical writing device, a plurality of light shutter elements having an electro-optical effect are arranged in parallel in the main scanning direction, and light being cast from a light source comprising an LED group is modulated by the turning on/off of the light shutter elements, and an image is formed on a photo-sensitive material. Respective light shutter elements No.1, No.2 to No.K are simultaneously turned on by a timing t1 per scanning, and the light source is turned on by a timing t6 after a predetermined time has passed from the tuning on of the light shutter elements No.1, No.2 to No.K per scanning.
