The back support which fixes onto the inner back part of the seat is a cushion which on the side facing the seat (1) has a resilient foundation layer (8) made of reinforced fabric, plastics or the like. Its width corresponds approx. to the width of the seat (1) whilst its height corresponds roughly to the area of the spinal column which is to be supported but at the most is half the width. A relatively soft cover layer (10) made of resilient material spans the curvature (12) of the cushion (6) where it is connected at the edges (9) to the foundation layer (8) while an inflatable interchangeable rubber or plastics air chamber (5) which is oblong like the shape of the cushion is designed to fit in between the foundation and cover layers. The user inflates the cushion according to his own requirements.
