<p>PURPOSE: To eliminate the need of small precise parts by providing a tape drive unit having a flat wide surface on its one side and a cassette storage/ circulation advance mechanism adjacent to the flat wide surface. CONSTITUTION: When a tape drive ends a data transfer related to a first cassette, the cassette is ejected to be positioned by a holder 52, and a transfer mechanism 46 is descended so as to be lined up with a discharge port 40 of a cassette tray 36. Then, the cassette is moved to a downward level to press the former cassette to fill up a gap. Then, the transfer mechanism 46 is raised to a discharge level, and the new cassette is supplied, and the transfer mechanism 46 inserts the cassette into the tape drive.</p> |
