A voice guide device having a route-searching section, a current position-deriving section, a timing-detecting section, a first information-producing section, an operating section, a second information-producing section, and a voice output section. The route-searching section searches a route from a place of departure to a destination. The timing-detecting section detects a timing to perform route guidance based on the route and a current position obtained by the current position-deriving section. The first information-producing section produces first voice information representing guidance of a point to be guided on the route. The operating section outputs a voice output instruction in response to operation by a user. The second information-producing section produces second voice information based on the instruction from the operating section, the second voice information being information obtained by converting voice information representing guidance of the point to be guided into a content that is supposed to be more understandable by the user than the first voice information. The voice output section outputs the second voice information.
