PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extruded hollow shape material having a light joint structure and a railroad car body formed with this shape material. SOLUTION: The extruded hollow shape material 1 is structured in a manner that it is connected with a plurality of slant plates 13 and that a joint is formed at the ends of the slant plate in the width direction for the purpose of joining between first face plates 11 and between second face plates 12 by friction stir welding respectively. The joint is either an open end part in which the first and the second face plate are projecting from the slant plate at the endmost part in the width direction and open in the outer side of the slant plate, or an closed end part in which the first and the second face plate are closed with an outwardly tilted support plate 15 in the outer side of the slant plate at the endmost part in the width direction. When the open end part and the closed end part are abutted on each other, the weld zone 16, 17 between the first face plates 11 and between the second face plates are configured such that one is superposed at the position of the support plate 15 and that the other is abutted at the tip end of the bulged-out parts 21, 22 projecting from the slant plate 13 or the support plate 15.
