PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance mold clamping precision in a mold clamping device which generates a mold clamping force by an electromagnet. SOLUTION: The mold clamping device of a vertical injection molding machine is equipped with a first platen for supporting a pair of upper and lower molds, a second platen for supporting the other of them, a base platen arranged so as to face the back of the first platen with respect to the surface for supporting the mold of the first platen, a magnetic pole provided at one of the base platen and the first platen, and the electromagnet provided at the other of them facing the magnetic pole.
