PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to form an organic pattern layer of an organic electronic device of high positional accuracy by a letterpress printing. SOLUTION: This is a method to manufacture a letterpress 13 used for forming an organic pattern layer that an organic electronic device includes by a letterpress printing. The manufacturing method includes a process in which a regular pattern layer having a shape corresponding to an organic pattern layer is formed on a conductive surface of a mold substrate having the conductive surface, and a metal pattern layer, having a shape thinner than the regular pattern layer and corresponding to the aperture of the organic pattern layer is formed by a plating method on a position, corresponding to the aperture of the regular pattern layer on the conductive surface, and by removing the regular pattern layer from the mold substrate, a mold including the mold substrate and the metal pattern layer is obtained; and a process in which a laminate including the mold and a resin layer 135, covering the main face on the metal pattern layer side, is formed, and by removing the mold from the resin layer, the letterpress which is equipped with the resin layer and has a convex pattern, having a shape corresponding to the organic pattern layer installed on the surface of the resin layer, is obtained.
