PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus characterized in that degrees of wear of a plurality of blades, such as a cleaning blade and application blade, which are consumable members, are recognized by counting the speed of rotation of a photoreceptor, and when the speed of rotation reaches a specified value, the reach of blade replacement is warned and displayed, thereby efficient blade replacement can be performed at an appropriate time. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the rotating photoreceptor 40; a lubricant and a brush for applying the lubricant onto the photoreceptor 40; an application blade 77 for further applying the applied lubricant onto the photoreceptor 40 finely; and a cleaning blade 75 for cleaning off toner remaining on the photoreceptor 40. After an image forming operation, the application blade 77 and the cleaning blade 75 reduce their pressures applied to the photoreceptor 40, or separate from the photoreceptor 40.
