PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and rapidly allow alignment by designing a method of setting an axial position, and to omit the windbreak process performed before the alignment. SOLUTION: An auxiliary device for alignment detects deviation amount and deviation direction of the axial position of first and second objects that have a circular opening and are temporarily installed so that the axes of respective openings exist on substantially the same straight line. The auxiliary device includes a laser irradiation apparatus 10 for irradiating the opening of the second object with a light beam LB1 along the axis of the opening of the first object from one end of the opening of the first object, an optical receiver 20 that is arranged so that two joints of its one end are in contact with the inner surface of the opening of the second object, receives a light beam at the other end around the axis of the opening of the second object, and outputs the position information of the received light beam, and a computer 40 for entering the position information output from the optical receiver 20 and detecting the deviation amount and deviation direction of the axial position of the openings of the first and second objects.
