PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To return an engine from a misfire state to a normal operation state by joining a misfire occurrence cylinder to normal operation after completely eliminating the trouble of an ignition device which is a main cause of misfire occurrence without stopping operation of the engine after detection of occurrence of misfire. SOLUTION: In the gas engine constructed to ignite and burn premixed air fuel mixture by jetting ignition flame by a pilot fuel injection valve 42 into a combustion chamber 14 from the ignition device 38, confirmation of the presence/absence of soundness around the combustion chamber, including confirmation of degree of rise of cylinder pressure, is made after detection of misfire, confirmation of ignition igniting by injecting pilot fuel into an auxiliary chamber 48 by the pilot fuel injection valve 42 is made by repeatedly changing injection timing of pilot fuel and pilot fuel injection quantity, and premixed air fuel mixture is input into the combustion chamber 14, and is ignited and burned by ignition flame from the ignition device 38.
