<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tandem image forming apparatus which allows a process unit to be smoothly attached and detached while securing exposure of high precision for an image carrier. <P>SOLUTION: Each scanner unit 17 is fixed to a main body casing 2, and process units 16 and scanner units 17 are alternately disposed, whereby exposure of high precision of each scanner unit 17 can be secured. Each process unit 16 can be smoothly attached to and detached from the main body casing 2 through an opening of the main body casing, which is formed by opening a top cover 7, without interfering with respective scanner units 17. Each process unit 16 detached from the main body casing 2 can be stably placed in a vertical state by having a first contact portion 48a brought into contact with an installation surface and can be stably placed in a horizontal state by having second contact portions 48b and 39 brought into contact with the installation surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
